New: XP, levels and badges for your account
Saved results now earn XP and badges. Most XP goes to complete, careful tests: room temperature and cooler, longer runs, before/after re-tests and first tests of a model. Accounts created before January 1, 2027 get the Founding Member badge.
Your account now has a Progress page. The results you save earn XP, XP raises your level, and some of what you do earns badges. Results you saved before today count too.
What earns XP
| XP | |
|---|---|
| Save a result that passes our checks | +10 |
| Include the room temperature and your cooler (laptop model on a laptop) | +10 |
| Test for 5 minutes or more | +5 |
| Re-test after a change, as a before/after | +25 |
| Re-test a PC 90 days or more after its last result | +15 |
| Be one of the first 6 PCs to test a model that then gets its own page | +25 |
| Fill in a rig profile (once per PC) | +10 |
Most XP goes to what makes the data more useful to everyone: complete results, longer tests and before/after comparisons, not the lowest temperature. You can earn up to 100 XP a day. Levels are named after cooling, from Stock Cooler to Liquid Nitrogen.
Badges
There are 18 badges to start with:
- Getting started: save a result, link the CLI to your account, send a full report and fill in a rig profile. The Progress page walks you through these four.
- Dedication: a 5-minute test, results from a warm and a cold room, three different seasons, and the same PC a year apart.
- Before and after: repaste, undervolt, clean out the dust, fit a new cooler, change the fans or raise a laptop, then re-test. The badge is yours when a load temperature comes down by 2 °C or more.
- Coverage: be among the first to test a model, or send the test that gives it its own page.
- Founding Member: every account created before January 1, 2027 gets it, including the ones that already exist.
Fair play
A result earns XP once it passes a few automatic checks: the test ran long enough to settle, the load held, and the numbers match the run's own temperature curve. A result that looks wrong earns nothing until we've reviewed it.
What's next
Season 1 starts on January 1, 2027. We're working on public profiles you can share if you choose to, and on leaderboards that compare each PC with others on the same hardware. If there's something you'd like to see, let us know.
